Your review of Herbie Mann: At The Village Gate asks of Hagood Hardy “whatever happened to him?”
Hagood died from non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 1997 (the year after I was diagnosed with NHL as well – we had the same doctor at the cancer centre in Hamilton). See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagood_Hardy
The Village Gate album is a classic (to me).
Four years later Moe Koffman died from non-Hodgkins lymphoma as well. When visiting Moe at his home a year before he died I happened to mention Comin’ Home Baby not realising Moe had also played it. I still find myself embarrassed when I think about it.
Two great musicians lost to NHL. I never forget them.
