Lance Liddle wonders if I was confusing Don Rendell with Don Lang. My JJ November 2018 article on Ronnie Ross mentioned that Rendell took a very fine tenor solo on “Cloudburst” with the Ted Heath big band on 15 August 1955 for the Decca label. It is available on Headin’ North and Other Hit Singles (Memoir CDMOIR 505).
Don Lang did of course record “Cloudburst” but my article concerned itself with Don Rendell’s contribution to Ted Heath’s hit.
