    IH3: GRISMASK (Maternal Voice, MAVO-L6) Stockholm based free jazz feat. Isak Hedtjärn on Clarinet, Bass Clarinet and Alto Sax; Patric Thorman on Electric Bass; Eric Carlsson on Drums; and Sebastian Murphy of Viagra Boys on vocals and cover art. 

    il Sogno (Emanuele Maniscalco): Graduation (Auand AU5015 (CD) AU5016 (LP) After a three-year hiatus, Italian pianist Emanuele Maniscalco (Wurlitzer piano, OB-6 synth) joins forces with Polish (and Copenhagen-based) double bass player Tomo Jacobson and Danish drummer Oliver Laumann, AKA Il sogno (“The dream”) for a very special project commissioned (and entirely funded) by Fondazione del Teatro Grande di Brescia, published by Auand Records.

    Ilugdin Trio: My Story (Jazzist, 2021) First release of new Russian label, “Jazzist”: original music of Dmitry Ilugdin’s piano trio, made in contemporary style of thoughtful cool European jazz with the distinctive touch of Russian classic composition’s school.

    Inclusion Principle: The 4, the 8, the10 (Discus 110CD) The laptop / woodwind duo of Martin Archer & Hervé Perez, now in its 15th year, releases a fourth album based on material developed during the last 5 years worth of live performance.

    Intergalactic Brasstronauts: Music For The People (Self-released: https://intergalacticbrasstronauts.bandcamp.com) This project, supported by an Arts Council of England Project Grant, is a collaboration between composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist King Zepha and New York Brass Band. Heavy brass ensemble passages and blistering solos are juxtaposed with global rhythms and ambient electronic dub. Album will be released on 16 July 2021.

    Irabagon, Jon: Bird With Streams (Irabbagast Records 019) No details given.

    Ireland, Ferg: Ferg Ireland Trio (MNDGRCD001) South London trio combining three of the UKs most exciting and in demand musicians,Nathaniel Facey (sax), James Maddren (drums) and Ferg Ireland (bass) explore the trio format with entirely original Ireland compositions referencing a mixture of spiritual jazz, broken beat flavours and angular swing.

    James, Etta: Etta James: The Montreux Years (BMG – BMGCAT460DCD) Etta James live album, featuring collections of her finest Montreux Jazz Festival performances, including previously unreleased material. The collection features her concerts in 1977, 1978, 1989 1990 and 1993, a snapshots into James’ musical journey, including her very first concert in Europe at the festival’s 9th edition.

    Jeffries, Fran; Ray, Annita: Fran Can Really Hang You Up the Most – Slow Glow (Best Voices Jazz Forgot (FSR V133) Reissue of two obscure albums by singers Fran Jeffries and Annita Ray.

    Jones, Dave: Crime Scenes And Subterfuge (CUES4U C4U285) Pianist/composer and JJ contributor augments his quartet to quintet to record a new album of atmospheric production library music for TV/Film, updating the sound of Jazz Noir.     Joy, Samara: Samara Joy (Whirlwind Recordings – WR4776) Winner of the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition releases her self-titled debut of standards from the Great American Songbook featuring jazz guitar virtuoso Pasquale Grasso and his trio (Ari Roland and Kenny Washington).
