Hooker, John Lee: Big Soul Of John Lee Hooker
They say : John Lee Hooker is recognized as one of the giants of the blues, along with Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and Howlin’ Wolf. Hooker is often called the “King of the Boogie” and his driving, rhythmic approach to guitar playing has become an integral part of the blues’ sound and style that perpetuated the UK’s rhythm and blues scene of the ‘60s. Hopkins, Lightnin’: The Rooster Crowed In England
They say : Lightnin’ Hopkins was a country bluesman of the highest calibre whose career began in the 1920s and stretched all the way into the 1980s. One of the most influential guitarists to come out of Texas, Hopkins’ unique fingerpicking guitar style would alternate single note leads with rhythm and percussive elements by slapping or tapping the body of his guitar. ‘The Rooster Crowed in England’ was recorded in 1959, a few years before Hopkins’ first trip across the Atlantic.
