Eden, Joanna: The Road To Paysandú

EH3 (Erland Helbo, Frode Berg): Close To Nothing

They say : The bedrock of Norwegian jazz EH3, led by guitarist Erland Helbo, is jazz-rock with a solid pointer to American tradition, the blues, but with jazz’s expanded language and harmonic richness. It’s also not possible to escape the influence of soul, funk, and classic rhythm & blues. Fries, Lea Maria: Cleo

Gray, Macy: Stripped

They say : In 2016, Macy Gray arrived at The Hirsch Center, a former Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, to make “Stripped,” one of the most unusual and extraordinary albums in her discography. A project put together by the audiophile label Chesky Records, Stripped was recorded in two days with Gray accompanied by guitarist Russell Malone, bassist Daryl Johns, drummer Ari Hoenig, and trumpeter Wallace Roney, all seasoned, well-pedigreed jazz cats. Gregory, Steve: Frolic

They say : Steve Gregory’s album Frolic is a collection of instrumental tracks rooted in soulful jazz and flavored with earthy rock, blues and funk. Guilfoyle, Ronan’s Bemusement Arcade: At Swing, Two Birds

They say : Ronan Guilfoyle is a hugely experienced musician with credits including gigs with pianist Brad Mehldau, saxophonist Dave Liebman and guitarist Larry Coryell. He combines a relatively rare specialism in jazz – the acoustic bass guitar – with a love of composing in compound time signatures and making them swing. Gurtu, Trilok: Mirror

They say : On “Mirror”, Indian master drummer-percussionist Trilok Gurtu is joined by the stellar Arké String Quartet (violinist and conductor Carlo Cantini, second violinist Valentino Corvino, violist Sandro di Paolo and bassist Stefano Dall’Ora). His third release on Jazzline is a reunion of two musical forces – they last worked together on Gurtu’s “Broken Rhythms” (2004) and “Arkeology” (2006) – and melds jazz, classical, South Indian Carnatic and Celtic musical traditions into an organic whole.
