Carroll, Marques: Live at Winter’s Jazz Club and Andy’s Jazz Club

They say : Chicago jazz artist, Marques Carroll debuts his first live double disc set, “Live at Winter’s Jazz Club and Andy’s Jazz Club”, celebrating the Jazz club scene and the Jazz community of Chicago. Carter, Ron & Ricky Dillard : Sweet, Sweet Spirit

They say : Blue Note are set to release a new Ron Carter studio album – a collaboration with choirmaster Ricky Dillard – on 6th February 2026. The new album Sweet, Sweet Spirit is a gospel-infused tribute to his late mother featuring a collection of her most cherished hymns. (Blue Note Records & Motown Gospel)

Casares, Lluc: Big Band vol. 1

They say : The 5th album as a leader by Barcelona saxophonist Lluc Casares is his first in Big Band format. It represents the self-confirmation of his connection with the orchestral jazz format par excellence, after years of writing for different ensembles (over 30 arrangements for the Barcelona Jazz Orquestra, Barcelona Art Orchestra, The Gramophone Allstars Big Band, Girona Jazz Project, Big Band Jazz Canarias, ESEM – Taller de Músics Big Band, and others). Oriol Vallès contributed an original piece for this album, Ostinato. Other music comes from Lluc, Thelonious Monk, Cedar Walton, and John Coltrane. Chalk, Olly: In Those Remote Stars

They say : Olly Chalk’s chamber-jazz blending virtuosic playing, lucid melodicism, and ethereal, synth-inflected textures. The album features Chalk (piano/synth), Ruta Sipola (flute), Daniel Kemshell (guitars), Hugo Piper (bass), and Corrie Dick (drums). Echoes of Frank Zappa, Kate Bush, Aaron Parks, Bill Evans, and Vince Guaraldi colour this vibrant, imaginative album, shaped by adventurous interplay and a shared commitment to exploring richly expressive musical worlds. Chambers, Joe: Double Exposure

They say : Zev Feldman’s Time Traveler Records continues its exploration of the gems found in the catalog of the renowned Muse label. The second batch of releases in this project includes this intriguing and long sought-after 1978 outing that finds master drummer/multi-instrumentalist Joe Chambers in varying duo combinations with organist Larry Young. The exclusive vinyl sets will be available only as a limited release, issued on 180-gram LPs and analog mastered directly from the original tapes. (Time Traveler Recordings)

Christelis, Harry: Preserving Fictions

They say : Post-jazz, ambient and folk-inflected improv from guitarist and composer Harry Christelis and his acclaimed quartet. Featuring Christelis on guitar and effects alongside Christos Stylianides, Andrea Di Biase and Dave Storey, the music unfolds with reflective spontaneity and rich atmosphere. Echoes of Miles Davis, Talk Talk and ECM drift through, yet the quartet’s mature interplay forms a distinctive, organic voice whose resonance lingers long after listening. Cignitti, Massimiliano: Quella stanza segreta (Omaggio a Edda Dell’Orso) – feat. Nguyên Lê

They say : The new CD by Roman bassist and composer Massimiliano Cignitti deepens his interest in the music of Cinema. He pays homage to the extraordinary singer Edda Dell’Orso, considered ‘the Voice of Ennio Morricone’ for having sung some of the most famous themes of Italian soundtracks of the last 40 years. Clements, Carl: Retrospective

They say : Multi-Instrumentalist Carl Clements Explores his deep roots in jazz, North Indian, and Latin American music on his new release Retrospective. Retrospective features Carl’s long-time group the Real Jazz Trio with pianist Jean-Yves Jung, bassist Johannes Schaedlich, and drummer Jens Biehl. (Greydisc GDR3599)

Cole, Alexis: A Kiss In The Dark

They say : New York-born Alexis Cole joined Chesky Records in 2014 for A Kiss In The Dark, which showcased the company’s groundbreaking binaural recording technique. Capturing Cole and her band live using a single hi-res microphone, A Kiss In The Dark found the velour-voiced singer taking a deep dive into ancient jazz history by putting a contemporary spin on songs mainly from the late 1910s and early 1920s. Cole, Nat King: Penthouse Serenade

They say : Released at a time when Nat King Cole was more acknowledged by the public as a popular chart-topping singer, this album is a reminder that he was also an incredible jazz pianist and the inspiration of many other musicians of the time and beyond, including Oscar Peterson. The original Penthouse Serenade album, issued in 1952, was a 10” LP and consisted of the first four tracks on each side. It was reissued in 1955 adding four tracks from a new quartet session on which Lee Young replaced Bunny Shawker on drums. (Waxtime 772260 – LP)

Colombo, Paul: Mabrouka

They say : Mabrouka by Pennsylvania based Paul Colombo Group is their second release. The variety of jazz styles explored are – swing/bebop, funk, blues, fusion, ballads, African rhythms and percussion, free jazz, and New Orleans second line. Nine originals by guitarist Paul Colombo along with a cover of Eleanor Rigby. The core group is jazz guitar, bass (electric and acoustic), drums and keys. Coltrane, John Coltrane: Live At The Village Vanguard

They say : The complete original LP Coltrane “Live” at the Village Vanguard, which was Trane’s first official “live” album. Coltrane is joined here by the wonderful Eric Dolphy on bass clarinet, plus veteran sidemen McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones, and Jimmy Garrison and Reggie Workman alternating on bass (20th Century Masterworks 350296 – LP)

Comeglio, Gabriele: The Journey

They say : ‘The Journey’, is the new CD by saxophonist, arranger, conductor, composer and teacher Gabriele Comeglio, one of the most iconic figures in the artistic and professional history of Italy. It’s the recording testimony of a long and incredible artistic journey, made up of numerous memorable encounters with great personalities of Italian, European and overseas jazz collecting original compositions and arrangements signed by Comeglio himself and recorded from 1995 to 2021 between Italy, Switzerland and America. Dalton, Mitch: Out Of The Shadows

They say : Mitch Dalton is one of the U.K.’s most renowned studio musicians, with a list of credits to his name that reads like Who’s Who In The Music Business. In addition, he has performed and recorded with artists such as Wayne Shorter, Melody Gardot, Ella Fitzgerald, and Quincy Jones. Dalton’s new album Out Of The Shadows features a stellar UK rhythm section, 3 x Grammy-nominated SWR Big Band (Stuttgart) and percussionist Edwin Bonilla (Miami). (Regius Records)

Davis, Kris and the Lutoslawski Quartet: The Solastalgia Suite

They say : Grammy-winning pianist/composer Kris Davis confronts the existential crisis of climate change with this striking new work, her first for piano and string quartet. Performed with Poland’s Lutoslawski Quartet, The Solastalgia Suite further expands the broad scope and incisive exploration of Davis’ compositional vision. (Pyroclastic Records)

Donegan, John Trio: Interfuse

They say : Irish pianist John Donegan has enjoyed success with a series of sextet albums lately, earning praise in the US and elsewhere for his updated Jazz Messengers approach. Although nominally a trio album his latest features the excellent saxophonist Richie Buckley on some tracks including the Monk-ish Blue Jive and the lovely soprano sax-piano duet A Resolute Rose. There is also a solo piano feature, the appropriately song-like Song for Ciara. (Jayde Records )
