The Siena Jazz International Academy has announced the opening of admissions for its First and Second Level Academic Diploma courses for the academic year 2025-2026. The academy says it welcomes new talents and is delighted to support them on their musical journey, providing a stimulating environment rich with artistic opportunities within a vibrant musical community.
Since its establishment as a cultural non-profit organisation on 9 September 1977, Siena Jazz has consistently promoted the value and dissemination of jazz music and its various contemporary derivatives of high quality. It transitioned into a mixed public-private association on 20 November 1991 and in 1995 received legal recognition from the Tuscany region. Over the years, Siena Jazz has been recognised as a qualified educational institution and serves as a national reference point for advanced training, professional development and enhancement of newly graduated musicians and emerging professionals in jazz.
The academy actively promotes young Italian jazz musicians in Europe and around the world. It is also among the founding members of the I.A.S.J. – the International Association of Schools of Jazz, headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands, which unites the most prestigious jazz schools worldwide.
Located within the historical Fortezza Medicea, Siena Jazz operates in a facility of 1,250 square meters that houses 21 modern classrooms equipped for teaching, as well as an audio archive, a library and a laboratory that collectively form the “Arrigo Polillo” National Center for Jazz Studies, a research section of the academy. The study centre boasts over 90,000 sound and audio-visual materials, preserving vital resources for students and researchers alike.
The primary activities of Siena Jazz have developed since 1989, structured around three specific sectors, as outlined in its charter: education, research, and production.
