Ambrosetti, Franco: Sweet Caress

Amirault, Greg: A Change of Pace

They say : Called “one of the most significant jazz guitarists/composers on the scene today” by The Whole Note magazine, Greg Amirault announces the release of A Change of Pace, his 4th album as a leader. For this recording, the Montreal based guitarist returns to leading a trio – his favourite musical format – having previously recorded with a quartet on his critically acclaimed third recording News Blues. Baczkowski, Steve: Cheap Fabric

They say : This recording of solo improvisations was initiated and realized by Steve’s longtime friend and collaborator David Bailey. They recorded nearly all of these pieces on the evening of a lunar eclipse, after David brought his vintage reel-to-reel tape machine to Steve’s old warehouse living room. The process and timing created an energy of focused intensity and stark intimacy, which is apparent in the music. (Relative Pitch Records RPR1187)

Ban, Lucian & Mat Maneri: Transylvanian Dance

They say : On their second ECM album, Romanian pianist Lucian Ban and U.S. violist Mat Maneri find fresh inspiration as they revisit the music of Béla Bartók, the great Hungarian composer. Recorded live in October 2022 as part of the Retracing Bartók project in Timisoara, Romania, these performances bear testimony to the two musicians’ finely attuned understanding. Bancroft, Phil: Swings and Roundabouts

They say : Scottish saxophonst Phil Bancroft reissues his 1997 debut album. Recorded with Steve Watts (bass) and Marcello Pellitteri (drums), it features five originals, including the playful Jiggle and the tender ballad B’s Niece, plus brother Tom’s Space Buffie 1999, Pellitteri’s Rock House, a free improvisation by the trio, and Duke Ellington’s I Got It Bad. Barnes, Alan & David Newton: Tis Autumn

Beasley, John & Frankfurt Radio Big Band: Returning To Forever

They say : It was In 2019 when John Beasley first embarked on the ambitious project: reimagining Return To Forever’s music for the three-time GRAMMY-nominated Frankfurt Radio Big Band. While some of Chick Corea’s pieces had been performed in various ways over the years, they had never been adapted for a large jazz orchestra at this level.
