Raul Midón: If You Really Want

2117

Singer and guitarist Raul Midón’s playing is very good but even more impressive when you consider that he has been blind from a very young age.

If You Really Want is his latest album (a name significantly easier to take seriously than 2017’s slightly comical title, Badass and Blind), in which he explores bossa nova, ballads and funk alongside the Metropole Orkest conducted by Vince Mendoza.

Compared with previous albums, the orchestra helps create a rather grandiose and theatrical vibe. Particularly with the swooping strings on tracks “God’s Dream”, “Everyone Deserves a Second Chance”, and “Suddenly”, Midón has some beautiful songs on this new release.
