Bob Weir
Bob Weir is a jazz writer, researcher and discographer, born 1939 in Warwick, England, now living in Cardiff, Wales. He was educated at Leamington College, Warwickshire and University of Kent at Canterbury (M.A. in Local Government Studies). A collector of jazz and blues records, films, books and magazines, Bob has contributed to Jazz Journal (including the Jazz Information column) since 1991, Names & Numbers (The Netherlands) and IAJRC Journal. He produced discographies of Clifford Brown (1982), The LA Four (1985), Dupree Bolton (1985), Clarence/Gene Shaw (1985), Art Ford Jazz Party (1987) and Frankie Newton (2003) - all self-published. He did discographies of Buck Clayton (1989, for Storyville Publications), Helen Merrill (2003), Clifford Brown (update, 2004), Teddy Edwards (2004), Sammy Price (2007), Lucky Thompson (2010), Leo Wright (2013), and Buck Clayton (update, 2014) - all for Names & Numbers. He contributed discographies to the autobiographies of Buck Clayton (Macmillan, 1986) and Sammy Price (Bayou Press, 1989. He contributed to the New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, the Music Master Jazz Catalogue, and Eric Raben's Jazz Records 1942-80. He is a member of the International Association of Jazz Record Collectors (IAJRC) and ex-secretary of the Welsh Jazz Society
