Candido: Conga Soul
They say : Cuban-born percussionist Cándido de Guerra Camero (1921 – 2020), known simply as Candido, was one of the foremost pioneers of Afro-Cuban jazz and an innovator in conga drumming along with along with Diego Iborra and Chano Pozo. Candido was responsible for embracing the tuneable conga drum, the first to play multiple congas, and for developing techniques that all conga players use today. Candido played with Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Billy Taylor, Stan Kenton, among many others. (Descarga 637012 LP)

Davis, Miles: Miles The New Miles Davis Quintet
They say : By 1961, with the recording of ‘Into Something’ and ‘Eastern Sounds’, Yusef Lateef’s dominant presence within a group context had emerged. His “Eastern”’ influences are clearly audible in all these recordings. The tunes themselves are a mixture of jazz standards and blues. ‘Into Something’ marked the second out of just two preserved collaborations by Lateef with drummer Elvin Jones, whom by the time of this recording was already a member of the John Coltrane Quartet. Donato, Joao: A Bossa Muito Moderna
They say : An iconic figure of the Bossa Nova movement, Brazilian pianist, composer, and arranger Joao Donato (1934-2023) introduced a new original rhythm pattern to the genre. He was profoundly influential, having inspired generations of musicians, including guitarist Joao Gilberto. Donato’s solo career includes 29 albums, among which ‘A Bossa Muito Moderna’ is one of his most highly rated.
