No Codes: Usual Suspects

They say : The instrumental jazz collective No Codes, consisting of Benjamin Deschamps, Sébastien Pellerin, Louis-Vincent Hamel, and jazz veteran Frank Lozano, presents their second album, Usual Suspects, scheduled for release in November 2024. Noble, Jake: Letting Go of a Dream

They say : Jake Noble is a bassist and composer based in New Orleans, where he is well known as both a bandleader and in-demand sideman. His debut album Letting Go of a Dream was initially conceived as a platform to honor his greatest musical influences: Bill Evans, Charlie Haden, and Kenny Garrett. Early on in the writing process though, a more complete vision for the album began to emerge. “As I began writing this music, I realized that I wanted to convey the story of my own journey of self-discovery in the midst of our overwhelmingly digitized society.” (Independent)

Norris, Sam: Small Things Evolved Slowly

They say : Award-winning saxophonist and RAM graduate Sam Norris’s debut consists of a body of compositions he has worked on over four years, inspired by life in London. This process is reflected in the album’s title, which is lifted from a quote by French composer Erik Satie- ‘I took to my room and let small things evolve slowly’. Onceim : Laminaire

They say : ONCEIM (Orchestre de Nouvelles Créations, Expérimentations et Improvisations Musicales) is a French new music ensemble, established in 2012 by pianist Frédéric Blondy, and comprising over 30 European improvisers and members of prominent jazz, free jazz, free improv and contemporary classical groups. Parnis, Christopher: Everything You Could Be

They say : For several years now, bassist Christopher Parnis has been making a name for himself on the Canadian jazz scene as both an elevating sideman and a driven bandleader. In 2019, he began assembling a quintet of his own to develop and perform his original music. He started with his oldest musical colleague, fellow Peterborough, Ontario born musician Aaron Blewett on drums. He then added Zimbabwean guitarist Matt Greenwood, Toronto-based trumpeter Christian Antonacci, and acclaimed Canadian pianist and two-time JUNO award winner Brian Dickinson. It is with this band that Christopher recorded his debut album Everything You Could Be, a dynamic recording that chronicles his journey to Toronto to pursue his art. (Independent)
