Strange as it may seem, regressive even, Gary Husband is to run a workshop at the Manchester Blues Festival, 20 October 2024. However, the context reveals there’s probably nothing to worry about. He’s described by the publicist as “Jazz legend Gary Husband” and the press release gives an (historically) accurate account of Husband’s special English pedigree:
“There are there [sic] Yorkshire men who have left their mark in Jazz history; guitarists John McLaughlin, Alan [sic] Holdsworth, and drummer and keyboard player, Gary Husband – his CV reads like a who’s who in jazz and beyond, having been in bands with John McLaughlin, Billy Cobham, Allan Holdsworth, Level 42, Jack Bruce and Gary Moore.”
It also contains endorsements from McLaughlin, Holdsworth, Jack Bruce and Dave Weckl, so it seems a safe bet the super-talented Husband will be venturing beyond the 12-bar.
